R. Krishnan (S'81–M'82–SM'95–F'01) received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Concordia University, Montreal, QC, Canada.,He is the author of the following: 1) Electric Motor Drives (Prentice-Hall) and its Chinese translation, Indian edition, Greek translation, and international edition; 2) Switched Reluctance Motor Drives (CRC Press); and 3) Permanent Magnet Synchronous and Brushless DC Motor Drives (CRC Press). He is the coeditor of Control in Power Electronics (Academic). The book Control in Power Electronics won the best book award from the Ministry of Education and Sport, Poland, in 2003. His inventions constituted founding technologies for two successful start-up companies. He is the holder of 11 U.S. patents. His inventions have been prominently featured in public media, including radio, TV, and newspapers such as The Wall Street Journal.,Dr. Krishnan is a recipient of paper prize awards from the IEEE Industry Applications Society Industrial Drives Committee and the IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications and the IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine. He is a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society. He was awarded the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society's Dr. Eugene Mittelmann Achievement Award for outstanding technical contributions and Anthony J. Hornfeck Service Award in recognition of outstanding and meritorious services. He is an elected Senior AdCom member of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society and served as Vice President (Publications) from 2002 to 2005
