JE Penner's first degree was in genetics (BSc UWO), and so he was naturally primed to continue his academic studies in law and legal philosophy (LLB Toronto, DPhil Oxon). He is the author of the Idea of Property in Law (1997) as well as a number of articles, and editor, with David Schiff and Richard Nobles, of Introduction to Jurisprudence and Legal Theory: Commentary and Materials (2002). He has taught trusts law in England, Canada, the Bahamas, Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia, and lectures at King's College London. He is not, alas, the beneficiary of any trust, so the purchase of this book is heartily encouraged.
